A buddies ski, starts up, idles out of the no wake zone, he hits the throttle and as the engine builds up rpms and speed, the ENGINE SHUTS OFF??

He is able to restart, and idle back to the ramp but the ski will not keep running at open throttle...........

any thoughts as to what might cause his ski to shut itself off?

could it be a heat sensor? or clogged fuel filter?

thanks,

going to do a compression test on the cylinders tomorrow! just in case!

thanks, Irv in KC!

first thing I would check is the main fuel filter located under the storage compartment in front for contamination. Most likely its fuel related. The mini fuel filters in the carbs get plugged alot on those. If contaminated you will need to go through the carbs and replace the fuel. Let me know how you make out.

he found out it was BAD SPARK PLUGS, said they were fouled out pretty bad,

he just did a 400$ tune up at the sea doo shop this spring, Some how i wonder if they forgot to change the plugs at the time of service.......

i told him to check the fuel filter and see if it was clogged, was on a sea doo forum, they said the fuel lines deteriorate over time and tend to clog filter as well,

but in the mean time well get him back on the water and hope its nothing else,

about as cheap as a repair that you could ask for!
