on the bottom of the pipe im blowing water. is this a common problem. its in the round quarter sized welded area. theres one on top also.im thinking i can drill and tap with a small stainless bolt.

that may get you by for awhile but I'd take it to a shop and have it welded up. Fixed mine when it did this many years ago and no problems so far. Reasonably cheap to fix.
