First off i'm using my friend's username cuz for some reason i can't get mine to work. I guess i'm lucky to have my SC clutch let go at 145 hrs on my 03 GTX SC since i've heard of so many going at low hrs. I have the outer SC housing off and the 3 bolts that hold the inner housing to the block but now i'm stuck. I can't get it to wiggle off. It doesn't look like the impeller can come off until you can access the shaft so i'm at a stand still and since i live in Maryland my season is quickly coming to an end. Does anyone have any ideas? Please help me get my baby back in the water soon! Thanks

Well, I don't know what you are talking about when you say you have the outer SC housing off. Did you take the SC apart exposing the SC impeller? If so, you did the wrong thing. You only need to remove 3 screws to get the SC off. You might need to move the waterbox to the back of the hull to get the SC out.

removing the three bolts that hold the SC to the block are the only thing that holds it in there. there are two o-ring on the inner housing (as you've described it) which may be making it difficult to remove the SC.

If you are sure you have removed the correct three bolts that hold the SC on then try to rotate the SC. If it rotates, then all you have to do is rotate it back and forth while pulling it to remove.

If you ride in salt water then it may be a little more difficult than for the fresh water units but it should be fairly straight forward to remove it.

One last thing, consider getting a shop manual.

Thanks guys i'm going to put the outer housing back on for more leverage and to protect the impeller.Ican rotate it about an inch and a half but it's really hard to do. I would have taken it to the dealer but they want $200 for parts and $86 an hour for labor. They also said they've never done it before and would probably need to pull the engine. When i heard that i knew they were trying to screw me .

Take the engine out?!? I think you did the right thing not to let him touch your SC.

Anyway, be very meticulous assembling the SC clutch. The ceramic washers are extremely brittle. Treat those things like -well- glass. Make sure you do not over torque the SC shaft nut. 22 foot lbs and no more. Also, check the slip moment when you get it assembled. I would not go any higher than 10 foot lbs. Once assembled, do not bump the clutch assembly while putting it back in.

This may seem overly cautious, but believe me, you cannot be too careful with the clutch. It is very delicate. Good luck!

Ok i got the SC out! Geez i had to yank on that thing! I don't see any sign of the ceramic washers on the shaft nor can i find them on the parts breakdown using the originial parts finder. Then you go to the 04 GTX SC on the original parts finder and there they are? Why does it seem everything has to be so **** difficult for the 03? I talked to someone at Riva and they gave me a part #420881942 for a SC clutch "update" kit. Anyone order anything like this ? Riva told me they don't know whats in the kit.

update kit has some washers, o-rings and the ceramic that will fix all that was wrong with the '03s ~hehehe~ Off the top of my head that's all that is in there.

Anyway, Riva should be able to get you the contents of that kit.

I'll be back later in the week and can see if I still have the update kit part number for you, if you're still trying to get things resolved.

Why not send the SC off to Riva and let them do the update? Riva, how much to replace the bearings and fix this gentleman up?

We can do it, but I don't quote service jobs. That would need to be run by our service department. They can be reached at 877-748-2926.

Nothing personal but i'd rather do it myself its not that complicated. I was just wondering cuz the drive gear looks a lil chewed up(not the teeth) and the ceramic washers that i belive should be there, aren't there anymore. I was wondering cuz the parts break down for the 03 doesn't show any ceramic washers. I was halfway tempted to buy rotax racing's heavy duty drive kit for the extra $180 but i want to get a BOV to prevent this problem and some other goodies from Riva.

Riva is this true? I thought if you clean out the strainer screen underneath the supercharger and change the oil this would solve the problem.

Josh; You have a '03. Your clutch is the old style so you never had the ceramic washers to begin with ! That is why you can't find them. They came with the 04's and above. There was slipping problems with the old style clutches, so they went with ceramic washers, which can break and wipe out your oil pumps etc. Install the new kit and don't worry.

Thank you ,thank you , thank you. I was talking to a friend of mine and telling him that there are no ceramic washers in the parts breakdown and there were none on the shaft and he was thinking the same thing. I was hoping someone would know this. I had asked about it earlier in the post but no one spoke up. Awsome, i'll be back in the water by next weekend.

if the new kit contains the ceramic washers, and these can disintegrate causing more problems, why not go back to the stock '03 assembly?

Beacause hopefully with a blow off valve installed i'll never have that problem again. I would recommend anyone with a supercharged ski get the blow off kit. That should eliminate the SC clutch slipping alltogether.

Is it entirely nescesary to use the "isoflex grease" and "super lube" called for in Seadoo's instructions for the rebuild kit. That stuff is expensive!
