Dear Forum colleagues,

I have a seadoo gtx sc 2003 and it wont hit top rpm nor speed. What could be wrong? I am think the supercharger clutch? I drained the gas, not it. Ran it and it wont hit top speed. Tops at 47mph on the stock dream o meter. starts up fine. Maintenance light is on but should not effect performance right. Please help. Thank you.

It sounds like your supercharger. The clutch washers have probably broken and are now loose in the motor. Remove the intake hose to the supercharger and if you can spin the supercharger wheel by hand, the washers are gone.

The 2003 shouldnt have the ceramic washers, they started in 04. 03 has metal washers they will slip, but not disintegrate & tear up your engine.

Good point JacRae. I wasn't aware 2003 had the metal ones.

Thank goodness for metal washers. I will check the supercharger and get back to you. I have ran it this way for a few hours to get back on a river. I didnt hurt anything did I? Also, is there any preventative maintenance I need to do?

Do I just replace the washers? The kit is expensive!

You need to inspect the entire clutch to determine that. The service manual outlines what to measure, what the specs should be and how to do the work.

hi you will need to have the engine stripped i had exact same problem with mine same year as yours and the 03 does come with ceramic washers which are prone to shattering into your intake to your pumps, mine in england just cost me £1,600 thats def whats wrong with yours
