Went out to the boat after a torrential rain and the engine compartment totally flooded. Pumped water out, which did not get as high as the heads and let it sit. starteed the port engine, which smoked a bit and let it run for a while. tried to start the starbord and it would not turn over, just made a sound like it wanted to but would not. Any ideas as to what may have happend or what I should to check out from any problems from the water? it is a 1999 model.

You must have water ingested the motor. Pull the plugs and ground the wires. Pump all the water out of the motor. This might take a while and make a mess and then run the boat as soon as possible.

Thanks for the input. I will try to do that. Should I have someone watching to see if water comes out of the plug holes while holding a rag so it doesn't make a mess? Just hoping it turns over and can get it cranking. If thats the case, should I do anything once I get it running to take care of any moisture that may still be in it? I apreciate your feedback.
