I just picked up my new 2007 RXP friday. This thing rocks, but is very noisy. It sounds like there are rocks in the engine. Is this normal? Idle is ok but when I am about 35mph, its loud as can be. It does realy go though. I upgraded from a 2002 GPR800. The RXP feels much lighter, but does not track as well in the chop.

Are you using the right octane fuel? You should be using at least 91 (premium).

The dealer filled about half the tank, not sure what they used, but i filled it the rest of the way with 93. I just don't know what they are supposed to sound like as there are not any out that i have seen. I need to ride another one so I can hear it. Thanks for all you input. Also what pump are you all using to do oil changes on these skis?

It definitely shouldn't sound like rocks. Or anything like that. I'd have the dealer check it out before riding it again.

For your pump oil use the OE replancement; Synthetic Jet Pump Oil.

The dealer ran it in a test tank and said it was fine. The noise doesnt so much sound like rocks anymore, but more like cluth chatter. The dealer said it was fine and it stll has almost a year on the warrenty, so Im going to just ride it and see.

Now having gone from a GPR to this I miss the finger throtle. I know RIVA makes one, but my question is do I have to use the bar extenders, or are they an optional part. All I want is a finger throtle with a clean install on the stock bars.

I wouldn't run that thing one more second until I figured out and fixed whatever is making that noise. Trust me when I tell you it's not normal!!!

The finger throttle requires the extentions. but, the extensions make the ride a lot more comfortable. Wink

I took it too a different dealer for the 10 hour service. I asked them to check the super charger, and told them about the noise. They ran it and said it was fine. I made sure that I had them write down that they checked the super charger and washers for trouble,, and found nothing wrong. At least i have something in writing so if a failure does happen then i can say i told you so. Unfortunatly the riding season is over where I live so I will have to wait for spring to ride it again.
