I have the complete stage 3 riva racing kit. I also have the adjustable venturi rings, running 83mm currently. At my last couple of races ive been beat out of the hole, but after 40ft or so I catch up,this gives me a bad setup for the first turn buey. Im running the 15/19R as recommended by the kit, is there another impeller anyone has used or recommends for lower/middle end torque for better starts.I think this setup would help on the starts and through the cornering.Any advice is appreciated thanks. Oh yeah, ive gone through and made sure all is sealed.I dont think there is an air leak issue. It revs high on takeoff then slowly catches. Thanks

Our Stage III Kit as we advertise it was developed for all around use. When racing closed course you will need to go outside the set up parameters to achieve optimal performance. Especially as you change courses, water conditions and water types (fresh vs. salt).
Have you tried a larger ring (83.5 or 84) to help evacuate more water initially? You can also repitch the prop to get more bite out of it initially? Don't do both at once though. I'd try the rings first. Make sure you document performance data before and after each change. And keep in mind as you go larger in venturi rings you will loose some top speed and rpm. At every race we would spend hours, if not days, testing pump combinations before finding the best set up. RIVA CREW Please post and ride responsibly!!! |

Thank you RC! I love the kit, like you said , I figured it may need some fine tunning for specific applications. The biggest ring I have is a 83mm. I will have to order some larger ones. So there isnt really another impeller that I can throw on to achieve lower end thrust? I will play with the rings first and see. I only ride fresh water, just raced rounds 1&2 of the national tour in Parker,AZ. The kit overall is awesome thanks for the info. By the way your tech support is the best ive ever delt with. Thanks Again

Glad to hear your satisfied with our products and service. We tested with several pitch combinations and the 15/19R was the best "all around". You might not need a new prop. That's why I recommended testing larger rings first. You might find that a 1/2 or whole mm larger works by itself or in combination with slightly repitching the prop.
Give Glen over at Skat a call and see if he has any recommendations. He might be able to make you some other sized rings as well! BTW - Are you a RIVA Support Team Rider? Hope so! If you are be sure to keep Pete up to date with your race results. Thanks! RIVA CREW Please post and ride responsibly!!! |

Get in touch with Pete anyway. I'm sure he'll take care of you being that your running our kit. He's been around the racing scene for a while so he should be able to provide you with some helpful info about racing as well.

James your best bet would be to run the 3-blade that Riva offers. Its way better out of the hole and in acceleration. Also you should think about the bearing mod for your pump that Skat will do good luck. JOJO
