Was wondering if any of you have raced other jet skis and could post the threats to the RXP/RXT. I was really wondering if anyone has raced that turbo honda FX12 in a straight line.

Let me help shed some light on this subject.

The RXP is the fastest "out of the box" ski currently on the market. It will even beat the Honda. BUT, there are modded skis that will spank the RXP badly.

Even the highest level of modification done to a RXP will not compete with a highly modified GPR to date. The RXP is in its infancy and we are making progress in getting good speed out of these skis, but we are still no match for the highly modded 2 strokes.

Morale of the story? No matter how fast you are, somone somewhere will spank dat a$$ Big Grin

Ok, I offer this info only as a direct answer to a direct question from CapeCodder... and I'll preface my response by saying that I actually like the Honda a lot.

I pulled along side one last week, we both gave the "let's go" nod at around 50 mph... to say it was close would be untrue, the RXT left him abruptly. We stopped, exchaged the customary pleasantries, and he asked if we could do it again from an idle. Again, it could not be classified as even close. So, he then suggested we do it from a rolling start (around 30 mph). This time I actually waited and watched for him to pin the throttle. The jump did not matter!

To be fair, I was running a Riva Power Flow air intake and R&D 2.5 degree wedge. Though these two mods make a difference they could not, on there own merits, account for the huge desparity in top speed and acceleration witnessed between the two skis.

Not a bash, just a first hand testimonial. As I said, I actually like the Honda.

Like Jeff mentioned earlier, I love the Honda ski's. They do handle very well, and accelerate nicely when turbo kicks in.

That said, I've had the pleasure of kicking my buddy's butt (and will do, again) all over Lake Don Pedro, Berryessa, and Anderson with my bone stock '04 GTX SC - he on his '03 F12X. The turbo skis by Honda are really no match for equivalent SC skis by Doo in stock trim in the speed department.

Hey Jim,

Do you ever ride on the Delta? We are sponsoring a PWC Poker run on 18 June if you're interested. We are expecting over 50 skis... it promises to be a real hoot. Let me know and I'll e-mail you a registration form.

I have a kill to report.

I have a 2005 RXT and the other day I was out showing my buddy what it could do (riding 2-up) when we saw another ski (riding 2-up going down the lake a pretty good clip. I had recently just hit 10 hours on the ski so my eyes went big on me. so i went after him and it was one of those kawi stx-15 (if thats the name) that i had just read about in the new PWI shootout. well anyway pulled up beside him and before i could even see if he wanted to race he hit it. i then nailed the throttle, caught up and flat out left the guy for dead. i slowed down and he came up around me so i stopped, but he nailed it again and got probably 5 boats ahead of me, i nailed it and again caught he and left him for dead. i stopped and he came over to talk, real nice guy that was just out having a good time. he wasnt aware of the RXT so we chatted for a bit about the skis and went on our way.

on a side note i also have a stage 2 GPR (2000). for comparison on holeshot the GPR (when getting a good start) runs dead even with the RXT and then begins to slowly pull away (but i have lost some top end on the GPR of late and have yet to figure out why).

Bottom line the RXT is a beast, and PWI reported that 0-30 was the same on the RXT and RXP.

I have a modded rxp with riva stage one a ppg prop and modded water box witha free flow,I modded the riva intake a drilled holes in my hood for air flow, Any way I raced and honda 3 seater 12f or weatever its called he was stock. He had a good hole shot But I lefte him at the line even with a pass on the back she was small but 2 peeps vrs 1 peep he had a bigge skI I killed it not even a race He diddnt even want to talk about it was bad for him, honda has a nice ski and I know it can move but honda diddnt make it to be the fastest skin on the water,It could keep up with the rxp I honda programed it that way I know it turbo/supercharged=power It could rock.

CapeCodder

i have raced about 8 RXPs with my modified F13x (1300cc 3 seat) Honda.

I dont worry about any turbo lag. I say.. Hey take off whenever you want...and within 100 ft i can pass and smoke them...

point being if you got more than 215Hp like i DO then it's not a problem.

The stock Honda 3 seater F12x turbo has 165hp soo compare apples to apples.. the RXP is a 2 seater and 215 hp.. 165 vs 215 ..vs 2 seat hull vs 3 seat hull.....da...

do your research first, then understand what your posting.

Nitro,
Just for clarification, the RXP hull is darn near identical to a GTI hull from either o3 or 04. It is a 3 seater hull any way you slice it. Quite frankly, it was the most STABLE 3 seater hull, I've ever seen.

The new RXT's and FX's are basically the size of the old Polaris Genesis 4 seater.

NItro,You are correct the 3seater vrs a 2 seater and I have more power then the stock honda,But the point I was making was that the honda could be better it is in hond tuning,I was just superised thatI beat it with a pass on my boat and he was by himself. That is all(I am not patting myself on the back but this thred was started to bash tht honda sort of)I just stated what happened to me.I wish honda would release a racing version of this ski That would be a fun race (stock rxp vr stock racing Honda)

Did you guys test the fuel Sg for race gasoline? I know I would not show up with a 400hp honda on VP-C16 race fuel.. with 32psi of boost and tell you its pump gas….

Not me. I’m not that kind of guy. Err, well maybe I am…..
