We're proud to announce our Stage I Kits for the new 255hp Sea-Doo RXP-X and RXT-X.

The kits as a whole won't be available until mid to late April due to the new Intake Grate and Pump Impeller. I'll be sure to post when they're available. The other parts are available now, but we want to remind everyone that just like the 215hp models you need all of the parts in the kit in order to achieve positive results. Installing parts such as the Power Filter Kit without the Pump Impeller will cause the engine's rev limiter to engage due to the significant increase in rpm provided by the Power Filter Kit.

We are working on our Stage II Kits and anticipate an early summer release date.

RIVA,

I think, well I hope, there is a typo in the RXP-X package. It shows the grate being almost $300, where a previos link shows it being $150.

When you add up all those parts it comes to $1389 not the $1259 shows. With the cost of the intake grate back to $150 then the cost is more in line with what is shown and no $1389.70.

Yes, there is a typo. And of course our server is acting up right now so I can't upload the corrected page. Sorry about that.

Dear Riva Crew,

Which SeaDoo is faster from 0-60mph,

RXP with a Stage 2 Kit
or
RXP-X with a Stage 1 Kit

Are the accelartion through the 0-20,20-40, and 40-60 mph comparable? If so, how close are they?

I have a 2005 RXP and I am thinking of putting on a stage 2 kit or I am going to keep it and trade in my 1997 XP for a RXP-X and buy a stage 1 kit for it. I am trying to get a good comparison on the performances of each craft.
Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Steve

Sorry for the delayed reply. I was hoping to get a new Stage II 215 RXP so I could do a fair comparison. The Stage II 215 RXP data I have is from July 2005 when we tested with PWI magazine. Those numbers cannot be fairly compared against the Stage I 255 RXP-X numbers recently documented due to the following:
  • Weather: Different temps, wind, humidity, etc.
  • Rider: Different weight, style, positioning, etc.

Stage II 215 RXP
Tested July 2005

0~30mph: 1.62 seconds
0~60mph: 3.88 seconds

Stage I 255 RXP-X
Tested January 2008

0~30mph: 1.76 seconds
0~60mph: 4.17 seconds

Testing for both was performed with 1/3 tank of fresh fuel and VTS in neutral position. Speed and time were captured using a Stalker Pro radar gun connected to a lap top computer. Radar runs were performed traveling away from the radar gun. Rider wore a reflective dish made specifically for radar testing to ensure accuracy and consistency.

R.C.,

Did Sea-Doo beef up some of the parts on the 2008 models that were failing on older models after crafts were modified (i.e. Clutch washers, valve train, etc)? You don't have those items in your kits for the "X" models...

R.C.,

Do you see an overall improvement in quality on these new 08 X models? I know Sea-Doo has been tagged as a potential problematic brand of watercraft, but have you noticed any improvement especially if modified with some of your aftermarket parts?

It's odd because on Yamaha and Kawasaki watercraft you make parts for, you haven't really added any major parts to a performance kit, that increase the reliability significantly to any specific area to the motor as you do with the Sea Doo kits (i.e. Clutch washers, valve train upgrades, etc). Another intersting thing is when you add your ECU's to the motor, it voids the warranty. Does Yamaha and Kawasaki have the same line items in their 4-stroke boat warranties? That would worry me a little about buying a Sea-Doo if Kawi and Yamaha don't have the same stipulation.

Our Stage I Kits are very similar between the 255 & 215 models. We have yet to release Stage II & III for the 255's. It wasn't until Stage III (215's) that we added our Clutch Washers and Valve Train Upgrade Kit.

The X-boats do come with metal clutch washers.

I don't think that's a fair statement. When properly maintained Sea•Doo's are just as reliable as any of the other craft we offer no matter what level of modification.

Each brand requires different modifications to the engine. We improve upon only those areas that need it.

Sea•Doo was very specific when helping us arrange our ECU program. They put us in touch with the right people to produce the ECU's in return for our agreeing to disclose the sale of each unit. It doesn't seem to worry to many people. We've sold quite a few ECU's! Wink

R.C.,
Thanks for the info. I didn't want to come across bashing Sea-Doo's because I think they are sweet machines, but I've read a lot threads from this forum and others where people are having certain OEM parts wearing out extremely fast after modification. Which leads them to buy stronger parts, like yours, to extend the replacement frequency of those items. I know parts will wear quicker when a motor is modified, but I really haven't read, from those same forums, of people really complaining about Kawi's and Yamaha's having those similar parts going bad fast; so I guess you could say the frequency of those "complaints" would be less. Maybe it's also because there are less aftermarket parts for Kawi's and Yamaha's compared to Sea-doos that really maximize the performance of the engine.

So back to my original question from the thread before; Have you noticed an increase in Quality/Reliablilty, in the "high potential for failure after modification" engine parts, in the 08 models?

From what i see on the stock RXT-X and RXP-X there is only one mile an hour different? Plus the trim system is different on the RXT-X is this right or is it the same?

tricky - I replied to your question in the thread you started.

shhr - Unfortunately, our Intake Grates and Solas Impellers will be delayed. They scheduled to arrive early May. We're having both air freighted in at our expense so we can begin shipping as soon as possible. We apologize for the delay.

We're expecting the first shipment on or around the 15th. Back orders will be filled by date they were placed.

This is to follow up on the set up we're recommending for our Stage I Kits. The Pro-Series Reduction Nozzle is required. No way around it! The stock reduction nozzle is very large (87mm). This provides the awesome acceleration the X-boats have. However, it doesn't do much for top end. That combined with the stock grate and stock impeller help keep the X-boats from exceeding the "agreed upon" 65mph top speed.

Our Top-Loader Intake Grate and R-series impeller significantly improve the pumps efficiency. Because the pump is able to process more water we can reduce the reduction nozzle diameter and gain more top speed without hurting acceleration.

Our Pro-Series Reduction Nozzle also allows you to easily fine tune your set up or compensate for altitude, riding style, etc. Need more bottom end go up one diameter size. Need more top end go down one diameter size. You don't have to disassemble the pump. Two set screws can be accessed through the steering nozzle to make the change.

RIVA,

Do you have any acceleration numbers comparing a stock RXP-X to the Stage 1 RXP-X?
