It is a good thing that I don't have the time to read this forum on a daily basis. I also do not want to get into an arguement with hot heads. If Hoss wants to pound on his ski after 2 hours, more power to him. I won't be paying for the repairs and neither will the manufacturer. I'll be out riding while his ski sits in the garage and he's spending his time bad mouthing the manufacturer for building a "faulty" product !!

I would think that the manufacturer's way is the proper way to break in an engine. They can, and will, deny any warranty claim if the engine isn't broken in to their specifications. Even if you tell them the "High strung Muffler guy" on the forum said it was ok. Now... If you're not concerned about your warranty and want to take a chance on premature engine failure (lots of problems with those RXP's), then by all means go for it. Personally, i'd play it safe and follow the manufacturer's break in procedure.

Checked my pm. Thank you too.

Isn`t an arguement or discussion a good thing to reduce problems?

All I ever stated was that rings are the only thing needed to break in on an engine. Thats it! I was bombarded with falsities and told I didn`t know what I was talking about! Does anyone else here really honestly belive that a crank and valves get broken in? I`m curious as to how many are really uniformed. This thread was about breakin and what is its purpose. Not on what you may think or have been told but reality.

I`ll be shootin` from the hip!

If you read the whole thread you would understand what I`m saying. If you want to follow manufacturer`s recommendations then do so. I`m not bashing anyone for it. I was just trying to convey what I know from years of building motors and seeing how they handle abuse. But do keep this in mind,,the manufacturer`s don`t want your vehicle to break after warranty. That way they will never sell you parts and/or new units.

Everyone is going to have their own opinion no matter what. Getting upset with each other and/or being more explicit when trying to get your "opinion" across doesn't help others understand or except what you say as truth. Usually it works in reverse.

Take everything with a grain of salt, work with your dealer's service department and do your best to apply in the best way possible what you interpereted to be true and you'll be fine.

See, we all can get along!!! Wink

I understand that and that's great, but after reading the entire thread, the guy was looking for advice on whether or not he was breaking his boat in properly. Realistic or not, he should do it the way the manufacturer recommends and no other. Otherwise he might be pounding his head against a wall making payments on a ski that is sitting at the dealer collecting dust. You may be correct with your statements but he needs to know that there could be problems with Seadoo if he doesn't do it the way they say to.
