2007 RXP engine getting hot enough to trip into limp home mode, only when run at WOT. The only thing I can think of that might be causing the problem, is the shop that repaired the bottom painted the ride plate. Does anyone think this could be causing the problem? Any ideas would be appreciated.

The paint could be the cause. But, before we point the finger at that we need to know a few things.
Was this occuring before the bottom was repaired? As part of repairing the bottom was anything done to the engine (removed) or cooling system? Have you checked to see if there is any air trapped in the closed loop cooling system? Have you checked to see if anything is restricting the flow of the open loop cooling system? The paint on the ride plate could cause the problem because the paint could be acting as an insulator between the ride plate and water. At speed the water passing over the ride plate (heat exchanger) is not in contact with the ride plate long enough to lower the operating temperature. RIVA CREW Please post and ride responsibly!!! |

Thanks for the ideas. Turns out the shop that repaired the bottom & painted the ride plate also put a layer of bondo on the ride plate.(I don't know why) Cleaned it all off & boat run great.
