I have an 04' rxp i put the riva stage 1 kit in it and everything was running great. Was getting great #'s as well. Though i was riding for about 1 hour then all of a sudden when i take off from stand still it cavitates very heavy then catches, once i get off to plane the ski drives as normal mid to top end it rides fine but when i take off from stand still it just doesnt catch. No clue what the problem is. Does anyone have any info????

Did you ride in shallow water??Sounds like you may have sucked something through the pump.

Here are a few other things to inspect:
  • Check the impeller nose cone to make sure it's secure.
  • Check the seal for the pump support where it mates to the hull.
  • Check the seal for the pump where it mates to the pump support.
  • Did you seal the intake grate to the pump inlet? You should!

Is the impeller nose cone made of rubber? My dealer told me mine was missing and quoted me $180 to replace. Does this sound right? How difficult is it to replace?

If the cone doesn't solve your problem, try your holeshot in deeper water. My STG II ski needs 4-6' of water to accelerate properly from rest. It cavitates terribly in the shallows, but rips out of the hole in deeper water. Just a thought. Roll Eyes

If you changed your impeller and I'm sure you did the green impeller nose cone has come loose from the impeller. Pull the pump and distress the threds on the nose cone and reinstall. This problem happens more that you would think.

ok took the pump out and found the problem. I dont know what you call it but it looked like a washer with a yellow rubber seal around it. It was not in place it somehow moved over about half an inch i put it back in place with a little marine grade silicone. it fixed the cavitation problem and ski running great i just hope it doesnt move out of whack again.
