05 GTX LTD- whenever I punch a wave or just get the nose under- Water gets into the front bucket.
Looks like there is a gap (can see light thru when shut) between the seal lip and the closing lid.
Cannot see any way to adjust this down.
Any suggestions??

Some of them doo have storage buckets. Roll Eyes I didn't pick up on the "GTX". Sorry... Red Face

Batman is right. Some water will get in the hull. The hood moves/flexes as well as the seat. Are the seals for the hood and seat secured all the way around? They can loosen up in small spots which will allow water in.

Brand New Unit-
Seals look good all around- except for the "GAP" between the seals when the lid is closed-this cannot be right!
A little water- this last ride in the bay took in 3 or 4 "dunks" had over 2 to 3 GALLONS water in front- and it has no where to go- cannot drain thru hull like Yamaha-??
Thanks for all the input- just need to be able to adjust lid to close the gap!

Hmmm... I just went and looked at a unit on the sales floor. Even when lifting up and pushing sideways I can't get the seals to separate from each other enough to create a gap.

It sounds like the latch pin isn't tight enough. It's designed to flex to keep from breaking the hood latch. But it shouldn't flex so much that it allows the hood to separate from the hull seal. There is a nut under the steering cover securing the latch pin. Check it to see if it's loose or can be tightened more drawing the pin down further.

Thanks for the effort--

But

The gap is in the FRONT- near the hinge- seems to fit tighter near the latch- but when water comes up from the front of ski-( when you punch a wave) it just injests it thru the seal gap in front-

That's backwards from what I saw on our floor model. There was less movement near the hinge. Sounds like yours might be tweaked. If there is a lot of side-to-side play/slop when the hood is open I'd say the hinge is the culprit and should be replaced.

find another dealer who cares about making things right. BTW, who is this fabulous dealer that won't address your problem? They certainly deserve no more business.

For what it is worth, I have an '03 model and the front always stays dry. Yours should be fixable.

I would loosing the hinge and play with it a bit it to see if it will drop any, maybe the hinge is too tight??
Lose the dealer.

I believe the hinge has slotted holes where the bolts go through. Looesn the bolts and pull the hinge down and re-tighten. That should get rid of your problem.

wolfmad,

I have the 04 GTX S/C LTD. I have a little black plug on the bottom. If you pull that out, it will allow the water to be displaced into the hull and when you come out it will drain through the plugs. I would rather have a few gallons of water displaced through the hull and more cubic area rather than being trapped only in the front.

I will pull the bolts and look- but they didn't appear slotted-
Also my black plug is glued-sealed- in- are you sure that it can be removed and that it drains into hull- my dealer told me to "drill" a hole in the back corner of the front-!!!!!!!!!!

Do you have the LTD? I have the black plug there and yes, it has been removed. The removal of the the black plug is to hull. Ask the dealer why you should drill a hole into a perfectly good storage compartment when the plug is already there.

Since your hinge seems ok try removing the rubber pad on the latch stud (Where you close and open the lid) maybe this will give you a tighter lock

Thanks Jaymes-I have LTD 05model-OK- I will remove the black plug and have a look see-
Examined front hinge- and only bolted on- no slotting- no adjustments-
Could not see how to adjust latch either-
Wouldn't removing the rubber cover- just make it more sloppy??
Will look into "adding" some foam or other filler to bottom plastic groves to see if I can fill Void.
Thanks for all the input guys.
