There are several A/F meters on the market. Most of the really cheap ones are junk, but that one looks pretty good. Is it waterproof? How much does it cost.

The PLM by Motec is a really high quality unit but it costs over 1K and does not record data, unless you have the ecu. You might want to compare the specifications.

The one I use and posted in the pix is about $1900 with sensor. I need it because it outputs to my ECU and Data recorder.

It’s also instrument grade. But not waterproof Frown

Like mark said most the low cost ones are junk, I know an engineer at Dyna and he does the fuel/power commander stuff. It’s his program he does thier software. I’ll ask him about the meter, but it looks worth a try.

...With a Bridgeport, Engine Lathe, and a Tig welder. I’ll make it….

$480
Lowest cost / most complete kit on the market! 1 wire tach hook up on any vehicle, no need for a tach adaptor. Modular programmable output for nitrous, water injection, timing retard, etc......endless possibilities. Record files with or without a laptop. Play back log files with the WBC software or export a text file. Uses highly accurate, readily available plug and play Bosch LSU4 wide band sensor. Insight to achieve maximum safe power. Download software and firmware updates 24/7 from widebandcommander.com. Available in black or white face gauge.

Do I need a laptop to datalog?

NO! You can datalog 1 of 2 ways, either to the laptop using the WBC software, or directly to the WBC module using its internal memory. If you want to log without a laptop, simply install a switch on the appropriate wire on the WBC module (refer to the installation guide). You can download the log session at a later time when it's convenient to you!

Is the WBC waterproof?

Even though the WBC is housed in an enclosure, and the circuit board is potted, the unit is considered water resistant. We highly recommend installing the WBC in an area that is free from moisture, heat, and dirt.

Mark C,
Are you going to give the unit a try? It shouldn't be too hard to put it in a waterproof housing of some kind.

RC,
Sure would be nice to see some of these A/F monitoring products tested. I think Riva should be evaluating the various products and put together a kit. Advanced 4-stroke technology requires electronics to safely modify and obtain solid, optimal results.

What do you think, Riva Crew? Riva has been on the cutting-edge of 2-stroke technology for years, but isn't it time to expand aggressively into the future? If you guys don't do it, someone else will. But you guys have the resources to do it right and take a leading role right now.

So...

Where is your piggy-back, programmable fuel enrichment unit and A/F ratio monitoring kit? These are step one in making the 4-Strokes fly. Come on guys, this isn't rocket science.

You're right. It isn't rocket science. We've always used the proper tools to develop reliable performance products for all applications. However, we don't develop the tools. We develop performance products; using years of experience, thorough testing and the proper equipment. We then put together packages that provide improved performance that is both reliable and affordable. With that said, it really isn't necessary for us to evaluate or provide the tools we use to develop our performance products and/or packages. The companies that make those tools have already done that! Wink

Dude,
I KNOW you are talking to the other Mark. Yes, He and Nitro are both hardcare. I've forgotten all 4stroke stuff long ago, when I sold my Big Block Chevelle street car... well there is that big block sitting in the corner of my garage. Big Grin

These other 2 folks are probably light years ahead of where most SHOPS are with watercraft.

I understand one thing...to make a fourstroke work, it needs to be boosted. I just want to do it safely. I can't afford any more pistons and valves and stuff, right now. Razz
