Hey guys I picked up a ski and was looking for some opinions. I picked up a 97 xp with about 65 hours on it. Supposedly runs fine and all that with single place trailer (2000) I paid 2500 for it. I will be going on Friday to pick it up. I currently own a 00 gpr with pretty much everything in stage two but the cdi, and speed freaks nujet 6.5. Now I haven’t gotten to run this one for speed yet, but I am excited about beating a few rxps around here. I got this xp to do some jumping on Michigan. I don’t know much about this xp other than it is supposed to be all stock. What do I need to get to put on, (bolt on, don’t want to do much engine work to her) to get me some good torque out of the hole. I am looking to make a solid ski out of it, mostly for the wife to ride. But I do like to jump. Anything that I need to double check when I go to pick it up? Common problems?
I planed on checking the following
Under the rails for any cracks
Vts
See if it starts (no brainer)
Gauges

Can you guys recommend anything else that I should check before handing over the hard earned?

Also looking for those mods that will liven up this sea doo. As we all know, all seadoos need something to keep up with the yams.

Thanks for the help guys.

P.S. here is the link to the one I picked up

Clean looking XP!
I would ask to check the following:
  • Check compression.
  • Check pump oil.
  • Check the drive shaft where it meets the PTO for play or wear.
  • Check under the engine or fuel tank for residue on the hull. Good sign of the level of up-keep.
  • Ask for receipts.
  • Ask for the name of the shop the owner used for parts & service. Contact the shop to see if they will provide any info.

I must admit I'm not a fan of that kind of ski,But I would have 2500 for it also. Looks nice though. And a trailer too, little extras...... Yeah I would've bought it too.

Paid goes between have and 2500. I'm laughing inside as I'm typing this.
