I'm getting ready to order these for my new play toy and was wondering if there are any gotcha's that I need to know about?

On the splash guard: what's the ease of installation, does it use existing hardware, do they come with instructions for installation, and do they really work?

On the intake grate: I have read some pieces on this forum and found them helpful. Are the new intakes re-siliconed before installation and was it ever decided on what locktite should be used? What is the method for removing the stock intake?

If there are any little tips or tricks with these, I would love to hear them.

Thanks a lot, hope everyone is having as much fun on their RXP as I am having on mine Big Grin

RX'n
On the intake grate heat the bolts and back them out SLOWLY. If you feel a snag stop and bolt it back down and back out a little more. SD used a ton of red lock-tite on this section and you will see it after you get the great off. Some guys used red loc-tite back on the bolts and some used blue loc-tite. I myself used blue loc-tite with lock washers. Befor and after each ride I have alook and check the bolts on the great.

Great, thanks for the input. Do have any suggestions on the installation of a splashguard? I'm curious if the installation is seamless or are they a pain.

If you look about half way down the page, you can see some pics of the installation. The one thing I had to do was take the soft nose piece and seperate it from the rigid nose piece. I then cut it to fit and ONLY reinstalled the soft nose piece with SST screws and SST nylocks.

The biggest part to the success was to get the very ends of the splashgaurd tucked under the side rail as possible. To do this, you need to trim away a little of the side rails too.
http://www.hydrotoys.com/rxp/DSC_0040.jpg I just used some diagonal cutters. You can't see it, once it's all together. Note the following picture... THIS IS MOUNTED TOO LOW, AT THE ENDS, AND WILL RIP OUT. TUCK IT UP HIGHER!!!

On a personal note, putting on the splashgaurd makes this ski sooo much more pleasurable to ride. You still get some over the front, but no more than you SHOULD get over the front.

I can see how that .5 make a difference, especially when you race. I was leaning towards the Riva just by reading the forums. Did you have any problems removing the stock grate? Do you re-silicone the new one back in and if so what silicone do you recommend.

Sorry for all the questions but I want to make sure I do it right the first time. Smile

I sold my RXP. I tried the Worx and the R$D grate. The R/d was much more aggressive, and better suited for racing. The Worx still allowed the rear end to slop around and come unhooked.

I never did get to try the Riva grate.
