The hi temp light continues to come on when i hit wot. I have replaced all the sensors and the hoses have been taken off and checked for cracks and debris. I have been trying to fix this for two years now. Lake Norman Powersports has tried everything they can think of to fix it. I am thinking of taking it down to Riva and have them go thru it thoroughly, any one have any recommendations?

Jaye,
My friends and I have battled this demon for some time. First thing - make sure that the coupler that holds your J pipe to your waterbox is not clamped around the 3 pissers located at the end of the j-pipe. (you should also widen the pissers out -just to allow for more flow) Second -try blocking off your water line that cools the very rear of your riva thru-exhaust outlet. Simply plug the line, rather than removing it. (You can do this anywhere along the line as opposed to reaching all the way in to the outlet itself. Just be sure to clamp off both ends of the water line.) This will add more water to the outlets ahead of the temp sensor. Third: You can cut a small section of the j-pipe that actually fits into the waterbox. Reducing the amount that goes in will decrease the amount of backpressure and COULD reduce heat buildup in the waterbox. The j-pipe on my stg III ski does not protrude into the waterbox at all! It's completely cut just after the 3 water pissers. And finally fourth - (and this really works) you can put a small adapter into the flush outlet at the rear of your ski. Essentially, a sprinkler piece, it would screw into the flush tube to the right-hand side of the pump and block the flow of water coming out while you are running. The adapter costs like $2.00 from any lawn/garden shop (H. Depot) The adapter usually has a valve on it to open and close it. Be careful to make sure the valve is either all the way open or all the way closed. Anywhere in the middle will be forced open by the stream of water @ wot. Good luck. One of these will help you; #4 especially. Hi Brenden,
Thanks for your input on this. I am taking it to a reputable mechanic in Garden City, SC on Friday and will request him to do all four of these things to the ski. Jaye '05 RXP Stage II '05 RXT Stage I |

The cord on the waterbox sensor is too short, after the stg2 update. Reroute it so that it has a little more slack.

Best of luck Jaye. Let us know how things go.
(btw - also make sure your yellow washer on the pump isn't blocked - naturally Mark - I was able to extend my temp sensor line seemlessly with an 04-05 knock sensor update wire. It's just plug and play. 1' long. I had heard that. Cool.
What is the part number? Mark http://www.hydrotoys.com 2000 GP1500R 4tecSC S3 2002 GP1500R CF 4tecSC Turbo 2004 Polaris MSX 4tecSC S3 2002 Octane |

Mark - i never actually ordered one. A long time ago, my 04 went in for the "knock sensor" update. The part is called a 2004 piggy back knock sensor wire. I'm sure a dealer would be able to find the # for you. I had to remove it from my ski when I switched over to the RR ecu, and I simply tried it with the exhaust. Dumb luck I suppose.
