Hi to all, i bought a new RXP this year, but only bought the 155 no turbo version.
What modifications are the best value for money on this machine? I think it is a bit slow coming out of water. I think i'm first going to the water intake grate from RIVA, I'm still searching for resellers in portugal. Then maybe air filter and water box modification. Don't want to change too much because of warranty purposes. thanks |

I really don't understand why anyone would buy this underpowered craft with the intent to mod it. It is MUCH cheaper in the long run to just buy the 215 hp version in the fist place.

I can tell you why i some persons don't buy 215 hp model, at least in portugal.
First of all it only has 215 hp using gas of 100 octanes or plus, not available in portugal.... so you'd end up with about 195, 200 hp at the most. Second everyone knows this model (215) eats more fuel than 155 versions, and in portugal fuel price factor is very important, one liter costs approximatly 1,8 USD 8yes, 1 liter and not 1 gallon!). Third factor when i decided for this one was price, 215 model costed 17000 euros and 155 13500 euros. 3500 more than other version, if you consider normal work here gives you about 500 - 600 euros a month you can see difference. Fourth factor i also took in mind was long term repair and maintenace costs. Everyone knows where you have a turbo you have higher stress on materials and lower life time. I do not intend to spend much on repairs during life of pwc, just to have fun with it. Hope made you see my point when decided for this one, of course i would prefer 215 hp version, i'm not saying that i prefer this one! I would also like to have a porche, a ferrari, a lamborghini, and maybe some other cars... but guess i can't! |

Well once you start modding the 155HP 4tec you will start to lose reliability and there will also be a point where you will have to run a different octane fuel. Also, the more you mod the more fuel the ski will lose. So if you're worried about reliability and gas and such then go by what a wise man once told me......buy a stock ski, leave it stock, and ride it all day. 2004 RXP stock-67.5+mph Stage 1-71+mph Stage 2-74+mph Current Mods: RIVA 3" intake, RIVA 2* wedge, RIVA grate, Rotax Racing SC wheel and spacer, Green Hulk shorty waterbox, 42# injectors, flared j-pipe, RIVA Pro OPAS blocks, GH clutch washers, Ride plate holes filled, XS IC kit, Solas 15/20 NEW SPEEDS COMING SOON!!! |

hmmmm that is exatly what the mechanic that worked on my ski said. But we are men and mean rarely listen when there is a potential of going .000001 MPH faster. The 155hp is definitely too small for the RXT but for the RXP it should suffice. As the wise man said (Mr Shibby) leave it stock and ride the heck out of it. You have spent a decent coin on your new toy get out and enjoy it. Recommended mods Finger throttle Stainless Steel wear ring (if available) A new prop (if available) Maybe a different grate. But seriously enjoy your ski. poke around greenhulk.net and read about the frustration and complications modifying the ski introduces. |
