I am a fairly good mechanic but I have never taken the 951 motor out of my 2000 xp.My buddy locked it up for me and I am going to replace it with a different block. I was wondering what kind of chore it is to do this and how comparable is it to the older 96 style xp's.Also do I need any special tools to swap motors?
Any info is appreciated.

The motor itself is different, but the work is pretty straight forward. It's never a bad idea to have a service manual.
