BE ADVISED*** RIVA/ Mark Sheffield , Why Do you not tell the buying Customer that When you order a stage 3 it voids any and all warranties ?? Why is this not clear on your Advertisemnt INSTEAD of saying "RACE APPLICATION ONLY" ARE we to believe that just becasue one races we void our warranties??This Is just so EVERYONE KNOWS ... When you order a stage 3 kit from RIVA , It IMMEDIATLEY VOIDS ANY AND ALL WARRANTIES ... This should be more CLEAR Instead or JUST saying RACE APPLICATION ONLY It should SAY VOIDS ALL WARRANTIES .... Experienced ones Will of course know this but some will think Just because it Is a Riva part that it Will Not void your factory warranty ...!!!!!!

I'm sorry you are displeased with the loss of your warranty and apologize for any miscommunications.

BRP requires this and it is clearly stated on all web pages and in our catalog where the product is displayed that the activation of the RIVA ECU voids the factory warranty. We also explain this at the time of purchase and when you call in for the ECU activation code.
quote:
This product is for competition use only. Unit must be activated in watercraft by an authorized BRP dealer using BUDS system. Activation by RIVA Racing available with customer supplied throttle body. Installation of this racing product will void BRP factory warranty.

Experienced ones Will of course know this but some will think Just because it Is a Riva part that it Will Not void your factory warranty ...!!!!!!
I'm sorry, but we cannot be held accountable for the assumption of others. We have never denied nor hid the fact that the warranty is voided with the activation of our ECU's. We've been open about it from day one. I've worked and been close friends with Mark for over 10 years now and can vouch for him always being straight forward and honest.

I don't see where I lied to you. Everything I posted is true. Let's go over a few things to see if we can't sort this out.

When did you purchase the ECU?
How did you purchase the ECU?
Did we ship the ECU to you?
Who acquired the activation code for the ECU?
Who installed and activated the ECU?

Hey Riva crew ... look up my name .CHRISTOPHER CAPOBIANCO PHILA PA ... Let me Know how much Money I have spent there in the past 5 /6 years ..... Im 32 yrs old I have been on Msg boards for years , I dont make threads or posts just to bash people .. I persoanlly will never spend another dollar on a riva product , From my calculations I am nearing the 20 k area on JUST MYSELF !! That doesnt include people i refered to you guys cause up here in Phila we dont have no one to get stuff from .. .The same way That i made It a point to refer Riva before Is the same way I am now letting people knopw how bad you guys screwed me over .. AGAIN !?!??! Whay hasnt mark called me back yet??? Why hasnt mark called Anthony back??? He called us all the time when he needed a credit card # tho DIDNT HE???? Mark is not calling me back because he knows damn well he never tld me that he was going to have my factory warranty voided with the purcahse of the stage 3 kit ... AS for your questions ... LOOK MY NAME UP LIKE I SAID .... you and everyone else would get more respect from me if you were MEN enough to admit that you never told me that the my warranty was going to be voided .... how about you answer the same questions our lawyer is looking into...

1)Why do you send Seadoo ECU info when u sell kits and ecu??? how much does seadoo pay riva to disclose this info????

2) Where on your website and OR my purchase order info does it CLEARY say that Activating and ecu or purchasing a stage 3 kit will VOID any and all warranties from BRP???

3)Is it true that the reason it says "race application only" is a knowing fact that IFF it said "voids any and all Warranties A FAR Less amount of kits would be sold???

4) Where do you get off sharing My personal INFO with BRP ???? Exactly how much does Seadoo BRP pay RIVA to share such info???

5)Why havent I still recieved NO calls from anyone after 5 Documented calls to RIVA ?? Do u need dates and times of my calls??? o wait maybe IFF i was calling to place an order i would get a call rite back!!!!!!!!!

Dude..I understand your upset about the warrenty but putting all that stuff of the stage III kit including basically reprogramming the computer, doesnt some common sence tell you that the manufacturer would have a problem with that? BRP doesnt want the boats altered at all

No...

In the USA the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act applies which means they must honor their warranty unless they can prove the modified part caused the failure.

Unless the product states otherwise like Riva states with their ECU. The only part in that kit that voided his warranty was the ECU, unless there was a failure and upon inspection by BRP and it was determined that one of the aftermarket parts caused the failure.

Why is this arugument going so far. I know it sucks that aftermarket parts can void your warranty, but did anything actually break or are you in need of warranty work? Normally it's pretty widely understood that any type of internal engine or electrical system mods voids warranties, whether its the supercharger in the kit or in this case the ECU. but i dont see the big deal if everything is working fine. plus BRP/rotax makes very reliable products.

And everybody at Riva has always treated me like one of their friends. Everybody at Riva is always very helpful, knowlegable and respectful. thanks for everything Riva, it's very hard to find good people like that. KEEP IT UP

This is to sum things up after which I am locking this thread.

------------------------------------------------

Yes, there was a failure with the engine (crankshaft specifically). It has not been determined that the failure was caused by the installation of the ECU.

We contacted Mr. Capobianco directly today. He purchased our Stage III Kit through a RIVA dealer. We've acknowledged there was a miscommunication during the purchase process and apologized. He understands and we are working with Mr. Capobianco to help him through this.

------------------------------------------------

Thank you to everyone for their support of RIVA Racing and RIVA Performance Products. Your support and business are truly appreciated.
