I took my 10.3 hrs old RXP in for its checkup. I hadnt run it very hard for those first 10 hrs but hard enough to know that it was very sharp and crisp at every rpm. Now it has lost that sharpness and only turns about 7350rpm. What happened? The only diff is the 10 hr check up. Could they have altered the computersomehow?

My dealer now tells me that they put synthetic oil in the motor, which is causing the super charger clutch to slip. Has anyone ever heard of this?

It is very possible. did they do any ECU updates? I'd call them and ask. I know there is a knock sensor bulletin out, but im not sure if that will hamper performance.

I'd be willing to bet that the real problem is that they over filled the engine with oil. Too much oil will drop RPM's.

i think they are pulling back some timing so the boat doesn't knock. thats the only way to fix that... or install a bigger I/C

I had a similar problem prior to taking mine in to the dealer. I'm not sure what the peak RPM's are supposed to be, but mine was topped out at 7250 on glass. After checking out the Stage I kit, I saw that the RPM's should've been closer to 8000 or 8100. I took it in to the dealer and they said something about the throttle cable being a little out of adjustment and that they corrected the problem by getting another 3% of air into the motor. I reluctantly picked up the ski thinking they were full of poo, yeah I said poo, and have yet to test it on glass again. We did take it out to Anclote in the Gulf and it seemed to perform better but it was pretty rough out there and I couldn't really check the peak RPM's. I'll be checking it out this weekend and I'll let you know what happens and what the dealer says if the problem persists. By the way, Is it just me or do these dealers seem like they don't have the slightest clue about how the RXP works or the know-how to troubleshoot a 4 stroke SC motor?

Check the oil level as that can cause this tpe of problem. Also, they should not have put synthetic in it as their is a bulletin from SeaDoo saying to use mineral based only. I'd check those two points first.

It could very well be the synthetic oil. There is a Sea-Doo bulletin out on this, do not use synthetic oil as it causes the sc clutch to slip and eventually fail. It's amazing how many dealers are not aware of this and are ruining peoples clutches. I've heard of cases where the ceramick in the clutch desintegrates and goes thru the engine, then the engine goes BOOM.

what i am curious about that i hear no one mentioning is the fact that when the rxp is driven aggressively in the ocean or heavy chop there is engine cut off temporarily. i do not know why, and dealer does not give me a good answer. anyone know why and if so how do i bypass it?
