New videos...
Flybye having fun video to show NO PORPOISING at top speeds and very stable.

82.5 and 81.5 back to back videos.... to back up the 83.1 mph we hit last week. So we can call Franks RXP a 80mph RXP.

OHH WAIT. Eek
I FORGOT THIS IS AN APPARITION. Roll Eyes

Well,to the Yamaha crowd and some it will always be a bouncing gumball and a ghost ski that doesn't go past 75..lol I could care less.

Well, Frank and I went out testing his ski on Saturday and had good and bad results. Bad results....broke the driveshaft bellows and had a water leak into hull or could be worse something else. Franks still checking to see where the water is coming in from. Had to call it a day.

Good news is we figured out what actually works as far as Venturi, prop, and wedge with this combo.
81mm Venturi, Solas 14/19 prop and "NO" wedge.

Frank's a little disappointed because of the leak and that he wasted money on the venturi and pump wedge that really didn't do much this time out. We blew the driveshaft bellows(rubber coupler) and that causes some water to leak into the hull to end our day on Saturday. $20 part to replace. Part of having a modded ski. Smile

The 81mm venturi worked the best last week and the smaller ones didn't do the trick. It's part of testing...sometimes things go good, sometimes they don't work out. Testing went basically like this. The 80.0mm venturi overloaded the pump like crazy and the speeds were in the 78mph range with 8200rpms. The wedge all it did for us was make us jump more. The added up trim gave us problems on top speed but added some more fun for wave jumping.
Check out the flybye video to see what kind of holeshoot the wedge gave us. It won't work with Franks setup. Once we took that off the rpms went back and set the trim we started to see 8300-8350 with the venturi that Glen sent Frank 80.5mm. We were still short of 8400-8450 from the 81mm last week. So we put on my friend Jacobs stock venturi 82.0mm and back on the limiter...8450rpms but our speeds dropped a tad or basically stayed the same as before. We couldn't break the 83.1 we did last week, but backed it up with 2 runs of 82.5 and 81.2mph.

I think that's the best speed the ski will ever see was with the 81mm venturi. That gave us the 8400-8450 all the time bouncing on the rev limiter at times.

The jet ski flies, but Frank wants more and more...and wanted to break the previous speeds we did.

Weather today was 50 degrees... Colder then before and if we had the 81mm nozzle we might have been able to back up the 83.1mph run. ohh well... 82.5 and 81.2 still says the jet ski is a solid 80mph rxp.

More weather data.....

Atmospheric Pressure (PRES): 29.88 in / 1012 hPa
Pressure Tendency (PTDY): +0.04 in ( Rising )
Air Temperature (ATMP): 50.6 °F
Water Temperature (WTMP): 47.0 °F
Wind Chill (CHILL): 48.9 °F
Humidity: 48%
Dew Point: 32 °F / 0 °C
Wind: 8 mph / 13 km/h from the SE
Clouds (AGL): Overcast 5997 ft / 1828 m

This sucks because I don't think we will have anymore 50degree days to get the best speeds out of this Rxp. Next week the temps are back in the 60-70's..... so we expect to lose some mph.

As far as Frank and I are concerned, we didn't care about handling in chop conditions, how it staked up to the mighty GPR or Kawi's, or even getting in a pissing match on which boat it better. WHO CARES....bla..bla.. Chevy vs Ford... same crap. I'm far from an expert tuner when it comes to this boat. All I'm doing is helping my buddy test his ski out and giving my opinion on what happened and how this ski feels. Franks not the best with computers so I told him I'd post the video's and help him post a few things.

The thing I wanted to do was just take some video, show that we got this RXP up to the 80mark and that's all we cared about. Didn't care about how it handled or whatever. Wanted to prove that this ski does make the power it was said to from RR and we were going over the 75 top speed people said we would never pass with the rxp because of numerous things. Heck, with 55 more dyno proven hp this RXP is doing what Mark Underwood said it would do 78-80mph speeds. I was surprised that it actually got there.

I could care less about grudge racing GPRs from Texas, Fl or wherever. Proving to them handling or who's ski is a better ski. I went on the Yamaha thread before to defend Franks ski after it was mentioned there and explain what I experienced. Posted the 83.1 mph video and got flack for it.
I originally posted in the Seadoo forum here and could care less about what the Yamaha guys think at this time. It's not about Franks RXP vs them, it's about us having fun and making Franks ski faster and pushing the limits of his ski. I personally like all brands of ski's. It's not about brand, but about going fast and having fun. Doesn't matter which brand, as long as they are fast. Big Grin
Franks ski has numerous parts from Rotax Racing, Riva, and PPG all installed on this ski so, Thanks to everyone for all the parts and help.
Hope this info helps others get to where Frank is now and beyond.

The 14/19 solas, has it been repitched? or repitched to make sure it is a true 14/19? Thanks for the update Mark has my head and other misc. Hearing your results makes me want my ski back together even more!!

On the Brands, I agree 110%!!!

I think that i can answer this question for you, peteshauling 82 mph plus moded RXP is using a solas 14/19 concord prop that have been repitched by PPG. This is also the same prop that Jerry, (Green Hulk) and my neighbour Malvin (Turbo Tech) (Terminator) are using on their moded RXP'S with excelent results. Right now this "tweaked" prop combined with a 81mm ventury is the "hot ticket" for all this moded RXP'S hands down Wink i can assure you this since I am the person that do all the testing on my neighbour boat using my own Gps.

Ray, does anyone else offer this combo because I won't give PPG another dime based on past treatment.

Those speeds are flying! You really need to get that prop pitched up a degree, then you might just be able to hang speeds in the 80 neighborhood all through the summer. Did you freeze the intercooler for these runs? If so what sort of RPM improvements are you seeing from doing this?

Good luck finding and fixing the leak, then getting back on the water ASAP. With all the power the ski's pushing I wouldn't be surprised if the bellow or one of its clamps bust loose, but check all the cooling lines and clamps.

Jarrett, nobody knows what "secret bend" PPG is using on the Solas. As others can attest, it pulls HARD and is the hot ticket!!!

To my knowledge there is no one making venturi nozzles for the RXP yet either.

Jarrett, I agree with you and I have been searching elsewhere for a solution. I'm hopping that skat-trak will come up with something. I'm supposed to give them a call back later this week to hear how the latest testing is going. they are working on it but it is going to be expensive, but so are the RR parts....

Actually Skat track just came out with something better for venturi's.
Check out this thread below
skat track pumps with interchangable rings

As far as the Solas prop, yes it's got a special repitch from PPG.

As far as the hull leak. Ya, it's worse then the bellows. We took the back half of the ski apart to find that under the driveshaft the fiberglass is weak. Looks like the ski was put together on a Friday Frown Looks like they forgot to reinforce that area and the fiberglass looks like a hole. We will post pictures later. It's not as bad as cracking like Mike Trin, but kinda like someone forgot to fiberglass under the driveshaft next to the coupler.

Jarrett, like Jerry say, this is one of Glen's best keep secrets. Right now my neighbour "magic" solas prop is on my garage, i was supposed to tested her yesterday in my moded stage 2 RXT BUT this last Sunday while returning to the boat ramp my boat lose 50 peak's rpms's and until I don't figure out what is wrong with the boat I won't do any more testing. To give you a hint about how good this "magic" prop work in our moded stage 1 R/R RXP, when we installed the Impros repitched 12/19.5 stock prop we gain 1.5 mph over the stock oem prop, then when we tested the PPG solas prop we gain another 1.3 mph (OVER) the Impros repitched stock prop with insane acceleration and believed or not all this testing was done using our (stock) oem 82mm nozzle Wink if everything goes as planned we should be testing the aftermarket 81mm nozzle this next weekend and we hope to gain another 1 to 1.5 mph in the top end.
