ive got a 1999 gtx limited that had water ingestion,we got all of the water out,the engine was not running when the water got in the engine and ive been fogging the engine every day and then blowing it out with the plugs out,,,well everyone ive talked to says that once a 951 ever gets water ingestion the engine will come apart soon after!! Roll Eyes is this true??

It is possible you could experience problems later on after that much water gets in the engine. One thing you should have done right after removing the water is ride the craft. A LOT! Running it on a stand isn't the same. You'll run the engine harder and hotter for a longer period of time when riding it as opposed to just running it on a stand using the flush kit.

You might want to consider tearing down the engine, cleaning every part thoroughly, prepping it properly and reassembling the engine. Also, the electrical system needs to be tended to. Go over it from one end to the other making sure there is no moisture standing on any electrical parts.

Your not doing much good without running the engine. You still have water in your motor, turning over a 951 motor will not get all the water out of the unit. See if it will crank and then run it asap. Pulling your motor would be best. I have sunk a 951 motor before and it had no problems, but I pulled the motor out and fushed it with oil and gas after it happened. I could never get all the water out of mine for it to crank, so I yours doesn't want to crank, don't force it. Pull the motor.

Had this happen several times on my 98 XP's. Like Riva said, it's key to get the ski's out asap and run the hell out of it to get it hot and get all the moisture out of it. The problem you run into is rust on the crank and then BOOM. I bought mine used and it had already happened to one of the engines. I sold them after 1 season to avoid it happening to me.

i may as well go ahead and pull the engine,,it fires up as soon as you hit the starter but i contacted the previous owner he said the water ingestion happened about a month before i purchased it,,ive had it 2 weeks and it has`nt been in the water since the ingestion,,only run on a hose,,i have sprayed 2 full cans of bombardia lube down threw the exhaust valve holes and down threw the carbs throats and sparkplug holes ,let it set over night and then turn the engine over a few times to blow excess out,, put it back together and she fires rite up,,ive done this process 1/2 dozen times in the past 2 weeks.guess ill take it out tomarrow and just run the living crap of it and hope for the best,,i can always get a remanufactured engine from seadoo if she blows,,i only have $1800.00 in the ski. (1999 gtx limited)so im going to let her rip tomarrow..

riva crew,, Confused funny that you mention the electronics,,,i noticed the hour guage and a low fuel light was`nt working,,so i pull the harness on the module,, Red Face it was so rusted 2 of the pins from the module actually pulled out and stayed in the harness Roll Eyes so now the module is useless ($700.00) for a new one. go figure!!!! i figure when im done with it, i will have what its worth in it,,the previous owner did`nt take care of the routine maintenance,,ive cleaned all of the other connecters and put dielectric grease on them ,,they all looked good except for the one that runs to the instrument panel,,its junk!!!ordered a new module then i find one on ebay for $199.00 ohwell to late now.. i guess its like the old saying (you get what you pay for) some how i new $1788.00 was to good to be true!!!!!

what year GTX do you have? I have a buddy of mine that has a brand new mpem for one if you need that, not sure if you do since your ski starts up. But thought I'd offer it out to you or anyone that needs it.
Good luck cleaning all of that up, I just went through that recently. Its tedious, but peace of mind is priceless.

Ive tried everythign ican think of. changes the plugs, tried using starting fluid. its getting spark and gas but wont crank over. Any ideas?

Downtheshore, Did you turn the engine over and "blow out" any moisture from the cylinders prior to reinstalling the plugs? start/turn the engine over to help dry out the cylinders.
Was there water on the plugs when you removed them?

yeah i did. i remved the plugs and blew out anyting in there. after reinstallign the plugs and not turing over, i even took the head off to try and dry it out. nothign worked though.
BUT
last night i pulled it off its stand onto the trailer getting ready to take it in to a dealer, but put a battery charger on it. this moring after a little cranking, it started up. smoking like mutha with an awful grinding sound, but it was running. so i hooked up a hose and ran it on its trailer for a while runnign through the rpm, its smoking less and grinding less, but still doesnt seem right.

mine is now in a thousand pieces,,im doing a complete rebuild, buying reman crank and balancing shaft, everything else brand new,,ive even completely sandblasted the entire engine and respraying it in a bright silver matellic,,heck i may even go ahead and do a group-k stge 2 while its down,,should do a respectable 61-62 with it.ive seen light weight fly wheels and pto`s for it but im not sure if they really offer that much acceleration. anyone have experience with them? see what a little water ingestion went and made me do.
