hey gyus, I know I always have to flush the ski after using it in salt water, but how about fresh water, should I rinse it or flush it too? What other thing should I do, I spray the engine compartment with wd40 or silicone spray.
How about for the trailer, what should I do to it besides rinsing it with fresh water?

Thanks in advance.

Yes to all of the above.

*Even if it is fresh water, I would still flush.
Fresh water has dissolved solids that need to removed from the cooling system. Yes, it is necessary for you to flush even if it is a fresh body of water.

*Rinse the engine compartment (don't spray water near the carbs/air box) also.

*Spray the engine down with a lubricant such as silicone spray to help with "water dispersement"

*Rinse the trailer also, any road grime you pick up from the trip back home needs to be rinsed off also.

Thanks! I would have never rinsed it if had not asked this. My boys house is 5 mins away from my house and has a huge lake and there are tons of people who ride there so it surely beats taking the 45 min drive to the beach! Big Grin

Spray the trailer down with WD-40 as well. Generously! It's a good idea to disconnect the trailer lights before backing it into the water. Just don't forget to plug them in before heading home! Wink

if you launch in salt water, equip the trailer with submersible lights.

I have those LED sealed units and love them...they're a little pricey though.

I have the ones the trailer brought and dip 'em in salt water all the time Big Grin

Didn't know about the wd40 to the trailer though, will do next time.

Disconnect the trailer lights from the unit, or from the connection to the hitch?
